Why Area Firefighters are Baring (Almost) All of it for a Good Cause. It's a Tough Job, but Teri gets the Hot Details

It was warm in the studio the other day.

Actually it was darn-right steamy. Sam and Mike came in to visit, and talk with me about the first-ever Madison Firefighter's calendar. They tell me it took more than a year -- one year -- to decide to even pose for the photos, but once the guys, and gals, decided to do it -- it was all in.

Here's the thing. This wasn't for fun, though it turned out to be all in fun. Yet there is a very serious reason behind it. Emily Lassiter with Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (bravely) joined us to talk about the connection, and you can hear the entire conversation this Sunday, October 28th. The interviews are part of our longer-form news and public issues program, "Weekend Perspective," which you can hear on all three of our Entercom Madison radio stations:

  • Classic Hits 94.9 WOLX, Sunday at 5 am
  • Triple M 10.5.5 WMMM, Sunday at 6 am
  • The Mix 105.1 WMHX, Sunday at 7 am

You can also listen via each station's website, or the radio.com app. Each week we offer a few different topics in an effort to create awareness so you can choose how you'd like to think and act toward whatever our subjects may be that particular Sunday. Part of the show this week will feature Emily, and Firefighters Sam and Mike.

I've always believed, firefighters are a special bunch. I witnessed it first-hand on a regular basis during my TV news days, and luckily, have only had a few times where I needed

firefighters in my personal life. But, after you learn why they decided to go waaaay out of their comfort zone for this particular project, may bring you a new sense of why they are special.

Hope you'll choose to listen to one of our stations this Sunday.
